IEA Knowledge Partner

IEA Knowledge Partner Programme

Background

The IEA was founded in 1950 as a Non-Governmental Organization, at the instigation of the Social Sciences Department of UNESCO. Its aim from the beginning has been to promote personal contacts and mutual understanding among economists in different parts of the world through the organization of scientific meetings, through common research programmes and by means of publications of an international character on problems of current importance.

The IEA has then evolved to becoming one of leading and most dynamic economic associations in the world making it as the largest and the most inclusive global platform to share findings, discoveries, and breakthrough ideas, strongly contributing to the debate of economic policy.

Objective and Motivation

The objective is for the IEA to establish a Knowledge Partner Programme that fosters strategic collaboration and enhances the association’s global outreach and impact.

The creation of a Knowledge Partner Programme stems from the IEA’s mission to foster global dialogue, advance high-quality research, promote education in economics, and encourage inclusive engagement across the profession and beyond. By formalising strategic collaborations with international institutions, the programme will enhance the IEA’s ability to support frontier research, stimulate debate on pressing global economic challenges, promote education in economics, and broaden participation in its core activities. Knowledge Partners (KPs) will help shape the international research and policy agenda through joint research programmes and publications and high level policy dialogue by active involvement in the IEA World Congress, on online Lectures and Webinars, RIDGE activities, IEA Prizes, summer schools, and IEA Round-Tables, thereby reinforcing the IEA’s role as a unique global platform bridging academia, policy, and institutional expertise in economics.

Proposal

We extend an invitation to distinguished international, regional, and national institutions to become Knowledge Partners (KPs) of the International Economic Association (IEA). As KPs, their contributions will be essential to the successful implementation and delivery of the jointly agreed activities.

The Programme features multiple tiers of KP membership, each designed to reflect different levels of engagement, contribution, and benefits for participating institutions. KPs will benefit from high-profile visibility and participation in the IEA’s flagship activities, under one of the following KP tiers, based on a five-year renewable agreement. While participation in the activities listed below is strongly encouraged, it remains a right rather than an obligation.
